In or around 1574 A.D., Sri Guru Ramdass ji, the fourth guru of the Sikhs, built Amritsar. The region was once covered in dense forests and had a number of lakes before the city was established. These families established the city's first 32 businesses, which are still operating today on Batisi Hatta Street (32 shops). The Guru himself moved to the city that became known as Ramdaspur and was praised in the Guru Granth Sahib to dwell among people.
Amritsar had a population of 2,490,656 people in 2011, with 1,318,408 men and 1,172,248 women. Amritsar had a population of 2,157,020 in 2001, of which 1,152,821 were males and 1,004,199 were females.
Amritsar's average literacy rate increased from 70.40 in 2001 to 76.27 in 2011. When gender is taken into account, male and female literacy rates were 80.15 and 71.96, respectively. The same numbers in the Amritsar District were 75.10 and 65.20 for the 2001 census. There were 1,684,770 people who could read and write in the Amritsar District, with 932,981 men and 751,789 women.
Amritsar is one of the 13 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in the Indian state of Punjab. In 2012 and 2017 twice, Tarun Chugh ji contested an assembly election from Amritsar Central Assembly constituency. Improving water infrastructure on priority
For a number of years, the water crisis in Amritsar has been the cause of a number of issues for the local population. Tarun Chugh ji prioritised the wellbeing of the populace when tackling the issue. 50-year-old water pipes were replaced with brand-new ones at a cost of 12 crore and 80 lakhs rupees. Thereby, bringing comfort to a lot of the community. 12.80 crore rupees were invested in the installation of new drinking water pipes
Rebuilding sewage system
While toilets are a crucial component of development, containing and treating area's sewage is perhaps a more significant but sometimes overlooked problem. Recognising the importance of sewage system in health, hygiene and overall aesthetics of Amritsar, Tarun Chugh ji gave special attention to the issue. 18 crore and 80 lakh were spent on the replacement of old, damaged sewer pipes. Previously, sewage used to float near building foundations and roadways.
Much work has been done to improve the sewage system of the area. Absolutely New sewerage in outer walls has been constructed. Rehabilitation of sewage system in walled city got completed. .Much needed covering of sewer system from Lahori gate to Hakima Gate was done.
Gifting new tube wells to the people of Amritsar
Tarun Chugh ji has been constantly working to address the problem of clean water in the area. Eight new tube wells were built and made available for public use, totally resolving the issue of water scarcity.
Taking care of safety at nights by providing street lights
Numerous significant advantages come from street lighting. By artificially prolonging the hours of daylight so that activity can occur, it can be utilised to improve security in metropolitan areas and the quality of life. Additionally, street lighting enhances women, pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicle safety. 200 new street lights were installed in the ward, addressing multiple problems at once and being especially beneficial for the security of women.
Durgiama Mandir
Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, a freedom fighter, lay the Durgiana Temple's foundation stone back in 1921. For a long time, the temple's infrastructure required maintenance and improvement. 134.2 crore rupees were spent on the construction of underground two-storey parking and aesthetic improvements to the temple complex.
Construction of standard automated driving centre providing 12 counters, consuming around 1.2 crore rupees.
Road to development
A good road network is essential for ensuring access to social, health, education, and employment services, as well as for other reasons related to the battle against poverty. Tarun Chugh ji has taken upon the responsibility to develop this another vital aspect in the growth of a region that cannot be overlooked. 30 crore has been diverted for the development of roads in Central constituency of all wards from 2012 to 2015. Another 58 crore were invested from 2016 onwards.
Work on Electricity
Our main objective is to provide the area with infrastructure of a high international grade. This gives roads and underground electricity extra attention. Around 51 crore have been used to carry on the beautification of the roads from Hall Gate to Golden Temple and back to Pink Plaza.
GobindGarh Fort Project
The Gobindgarh Fort, which is located in the middle of Amritsar, echoes the incredible past of Punjab and elaborates on the occasions that helped to mould the region into what it is now. The iconic Golden Temple is only around 2 kilometres away from the 18th-century fort, which boasts a more than 250-year history. The fort was originally constructed during the Bhangi Misl era but was later taken over and repaired by both the Sikh Empire and the British. It served as the Indian Army's base after independence. Rupees 1.8Cr has been used for the Conservation and structural stabalization of the fort walls. 5.09Cr
for adaptive reuse of historic building for interpretation and visitor facilities at entrance gates and
Nalwa Gate and Darbar hall. 11.74 cr spent for providing infrastructural utility services and development
in outer and inner zone of fort complex. 2.02cr for development of tourist accommodations, conservational
aspects only at the fort.
5.22 crore for surface parking near the fort.
46 crore for conservation and adaptive reuse of GobindGarh fort.
8.75 crore for development of Museum. Various interpretative facilities were provided, adaptive
upgradation of fort for tourism.
9.63 crore for landscape development in and around the fort. Installation of lighting around the complex
was also done.
Golden Temple Poject
Sikhism's most important spiritual centre is the Golden Temple. Along with the Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib and the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Kartarpur, it is one of the holiest places in Sikhism. Tarun Chugh ji has made it a point to give the temple its well-deserved prominence, hence the necessary work has been done in order to maintain the temple at its highest pedestal.
78.08 crore used for construction of Plazza complex at the main entrance of the Shri Harmindar Sahib Temple at Amritsar has already been disbursed.
50.83 crore for furnishing of basement work at the Plaza for the use to general public and maintenance of
temple institution.
82 crore were spent on the Plazza main entrance basement.
Bridge Project
There is a lot of work being done by Tarun Chugh ji to solve the issues the residents of the area confront. One such issue was the traffic in an around the bridge. Bhandhari Bridge Loop was constructed by the his work (excluding railway portion) which consumed 21.12 crore
Tourism development project
Punjab's centre of culture and religion is Amritsar. It has contributed significantly to Punjab's literary and cultural heritage throughout its history. A visit to Amritsar for Sikhs from all over the world is no less than a pilgrimage because it is the location of Akal Takht, Sikhism's supreme seat of religious authority. Tarun Chugh ji therefore places great emphasis on Amritsar's tourism development.
3.35 crore rupees were contributed for the preservation of Rambagh wall and Keelar Gate.
For the preservation of Rambagh Garden, around 1.9 crore. The summer palace and civil defence Doeri of Maharaja Ranjit Singh were preserved and renovated.Conservation of Town Hall at Amritsar shall begin as soon as the municipal corporation office shift. 1.14crore has been set aside for the work.
A total of 56.62 crore has been set aside for the restoration and adaptive reuse of Amritsar's townhall, Rambagh gate, historic structures, and cultural pathways.
Jail Project
Through a variety of correctional programmes, jails not only serve a crucial role by keeping the criminals in prison segregation but also assist in the process of their reformation and reintegration with society. Tarun Chugh ji believes that no aspect of the community's growth should be overlooked, which is why he has pushed to improve the jail's infrastructure.
A budget of 132 crores has been set aside to build a new central jail facility on 67 acres in the village of Fatehpur.
Streets of area
Tarun Chugh has overseen substantial cc work on the streets at multiple places, to address the difficulties local residents of the surrounding area are facing. Concrete cement work was carried out in the streets of the area of Katda Modibagh. Also at Gali Vikram Gali Pipal Gali Badrayo(Lohgarh Chowk)
Service to the people Not Rule
Tarun Chugh ji revered the voters of the central constituency as God and honoured them with his sewa
notwithstanding his defeat in the election.
Development work for the underprivileged,Old age Pension, widow pension, BPL cards, Disability pension,
atta-dal scheme card, medical card worth rupees 5000, labour card and much more has been done
diligently.
The central constituency ward number 49 has received a total expenditure of Rs. 1010 crores, which is
visible in every nook and cranny of the area.
